CLIMATE CHANGE EFFORTS FOR POLITICAL REASONS

 As the president flies in his private CO2 producing jumbo jet from Oslo to Copenhagen, fresh with confidence after accepting the Nobel Peace Prize, we are faced with even greater concern about the thinking process of the leader of the formerly free world. His agenda is clear to many, and it has nothing to do with concern about climate change. After all, even the words used to describe the “crisis” have changed. Formerly known as “global warming”, the purveyors of doom and gloom abandoned this term for “climate change” when it was incontrovertibly shown that global warming had ceased in 1998. Read more. 

DEFEATING THE MALIGNANCY OF LIBERALISM

Some months ago I wrote a column entitled "Liberalism is a malignancy." I reviewed the way in which liberals spoil the cities and states in which they live. Then, unable to exist there anymore, they metastasize to other places. However, unable to understand that the policies they support are the cause for the misery from which they have fled, they persist in trying to remake their new homes in the same way.

SENATOR KENNEDY'S FINAL BID FOR SALVATION

The passing of Senator Edward Kennedy was truly the end of an era. He had been extolled as the "lion of the Senate." Understandably, given the impact of his life, the news media were filled with stories about Kennedy, his family, his trials and tribulations and his contributions. I was most surprised to read that a month before his death Senator Kennedy had written a letter to Pope Benedict XVI, which was delivered to him by President Obama. As a practicing Catholic, I took great interest in Kennedy's thoughts about his Catholicism at the end of his life.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA: SMOKE AND MIRRORS

The use of so-called “medical marijuana” has become increasingly prevalent in the United States. It has also blossomed into a growing cottage industry. Marijuana has been legal in several countries for medical use since the early 1990‘s. The first U.S. state to legalize marijuana for medical use was, not surprisingly, California in 1996. AN OPTION WE CAN'T REFUSE

The People's Democratic Party has again proven that they are not really a party of the people. On Oct. 13, the Senate Finance Committee approved a health-care plan that is slated to cost $900 billion over 10 years. Of course, the tax increases begin almost immediately, the benefits are delayed, and after 10 years the costs increase dramatically. All of this as Medicare and Medicaid are circling the event horizon of a black hole into which they will disappear in 2018.

SWINE FLU PANIC IN PERSPECTIVE

I usually see about twenty patients in my office, and at least a few patients in the hospital, daily. Over the past several months, my patient load has increased by one third. Almost all of the increase is due to fears about H1N1 influenza. (Click on title to read more)

MR. OBAMA NEEDS A TIMEOUT

I tried to understand our president. Really I did. When he was elected, I sent an email to my conservative friends and the staff of Oregon Right to Life, the text of which appears below.

OBAMACARE: POINT AND COUNTERPOINT #2

This article is the second of a point / counterpoint series on Mr. Obama's health care plan.
*ObamaCare will not promote abortions.
*It is true that there are no provisions in the current plan specifically providing for abortions. However, there are provisions in the plan for "family planning." Given his record, many conservatives rightly suspect that to Mr. Obama family-planning means a lot of planning, and fewer people in order to reduce the amount of carbon producing biological units. This health care plan gives the Commissioner of Health Choices the power to determine future benefits within the plan. The promotion of abortion can be easily added once the bill is passed. This is another example of liberal incrementalism at its finest.

GOVERNMENT HEALTHCARE FLAWED BUT SOLUTIONS EXIST

Healthcare is about protecting human life of every race amid attempts by the proponents of the culture of death, led by our president, to demean the lives of the pre-born, the infirm and the elderly. Our system of payment for healthcare needs to be improved and costs should be contained. However, our healthcare delivery system is the best in the world. OBAMA SUPPORTS GENOCIDE OF AFRICAN-AMERICANS

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke at the 2009 Planned Parenthood awards gala in Houston, where she received that organization’s highest honor, The Margaret Sanger Award. Clinton said of Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood: “I admire Margaret Sanger enormously, her courage, her tenacity, her vision’, and “I am in awe of her.” Further she said: “It’s the lesson that women’s empowerment is always, always about more than bettering the lives of individual women. It is part of a movement. It’s about economic and political progress for all women and girls”. Clinton’s boss, President Obama, has been a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood as well.

I never thought I would live to see the day, at least not until the election last year of a communist to the presidency. The following statement appears on the Kremlin, I mean, White House website.

HEALTH CARE BY 'CASH FOR CLUNKERS'

The much vaunted “Cash for Clunkers” program, brought to you by president Obama and the Democratic Congress, has run into a bit of trouble. It was envisioned that the $1 billion allotted to the program would fund approximately 250,000 automobile purchases. Yet, within a week of starting the program has already run out of money and over 25,000 “deals” were awaiting approval by the federal government. The House approved $2 billion in additional funding for the program last Friday, an increase that would bring the cost of the program to 300% of its projected cost within one week. Many comparisons have been made between the Roman Empire and the United States. The Roman Empire was the most powerful civilization on Earth. Similarly, the United States, for now, is the sole remaining superpower. However, with the good comes the bad and the decline and fall of the Roman Empire has been compared to the decline and pending fall of the United States. We often forget the fact that the Roman Empire was preceded for 450 years by the Roman Republic, which arose in 509 B.C. with the overthrow of the Roman monarchy.

AMERICA'S STOCKHOLM SYNDROME

Earlier this year, actress and professional liberal bigot Janeane Garofalo accused blacks and women who do not support Barack Obama of suffering from Stockholm syndrome. She was being interviewed by fellow bigot Keith Olbermann, who, big surprise, enthusiastically agreed with her. During their mutually supportive time together they accused conservatives, and essentially anyone unsupportive of Obama's policies, of being racists. Garofalo concluded that blacks and women who think for themselves and come to conclusions that disagree with her own are mentally deranged! Now there is a true supporter of liberty and equality. THE FAILED PROMISES OF GOVERNMENT FUNDED HEALTH CARE

The health care debate in this country is an old story. It began in 1934 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt attempted to include government-funded health care in his "New Deal" as part of his comprehensive Social Security legislation. President Roosevelt was very concerned that the Supreme Court might rule parts of his "New Deal" unconstitutional. He tried to induce Congress to approve increasing the total number of justices on the Supreme Court to fifteen, attempting thereby to circumvent the judiciary and the Constitution by stacking the Court in his favor.
